Help Us Launch "A Time to Heal" – A Retreat for Black Women Healthcare Leaders
We must accept finite disappointment but never lose infinite hope." – Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
We find ourselves at a pivotal moment as we approach the weekend of January 18-20, 2025. This weekend marks the celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. Day and the inauguration of a new president. This juxtaposition carries deep emotional weight for many Black women. For those who overwhelmingly supported Kamala Harris and her vision of equity and progress, this moment is a stark reminder of the systemic challenges we continue to face.
In the spirit of MLK’s words, we are choosing to focus not on the disappointment but on the infinite hope that sustains us by hosting a healing retreat January 18-20, 2025. "A Time to Heal" is an intimate retreat created specifically for Black women healthcare leaders in the Chicago area—a sanctuary where they can lay down their burdens, reconnect with themselves, and emerge renewed.
Why This Retreat Matters
Black women are the most overrepresented demographic in the healthcare industry, but they are highly under-represented in healthcare leadership roles. They navigate toxic workplaces, systemic inequities, and the overwhelming responsibility of caring for others—all while often feeling invisible in leadership roles.
This retreat is about centering Black women healthcare leaders and providing them with the space to:
- Prioritize their healing and well-being.
- Build authentic connections with others who understand their journey.
- Reclaim their wholeness and lead from a place of authenticity and peace.
We believe that when Black women healthcare leaders are allowed space for healing and restoration, the ripple effects positively impact their families, communities, and the entire healthcare system.
