Support Healing Journey After Cancer Diagnosis and Surgery

Hello everyone!

I’ve been so overwhelmed with all the kind words and offers to help. It has been really uplifting and wonderful.

On December 31, 2024, I went to the ER with abdominal pain. After a CT scan, the doctor concluded my Appendix was the issue. I was transferred to another hospital to await surgery the following day.

A couple weeks after discharge, I got a call from the surgeon to let me know that the pathologists found a neuroendocrine tumor on my Appendix and referred me to oncology and colorectal.

After many appointments and scans, they had found that there were spots on my liver that had metastasized and because of that, the best course of action was to remove the part of my colon and the lymph node closest to my appendix to eliminate any more possible spread (hopefully). This is called a Right Hemicolectomy.

To get rid of the spots on my liver, the surgical oncologist will preform microwave ablation to hopefully get them all.

The surgery in total will be a little over 4 hours and I will be admitted to the hospital for 2-3 days before I can go home. After that, I will be on lifting restrictions for 6 weeks. I may have dietary and other restrictions, as well, but I won’t know until post-surgery.

I will have to continue regular monitoring and follow ups, but hopefully doing this now will eliminate any other spread and issues down the road.

Any amount is totally appreciated and will go toward medical expenses, food, bills and child care while I heal.
