Hi friends! We are reaching out to you today to tell you a little about a medical mission we are embarking on April 29 to May 9. We are joining a specialized international medical team to perform free life saving heart surgery on babies and children in Nairobi, Kenya through MyMoyo and Healing Little Hearts. MyMoyo is a children’s charity dedicated to giving kids with heart conditions the care, hope, and healing they deserve. Whether it’s life-saving treatment, or simply a second chance at childhood, MyMoyo is where little hearts find strength. MyMoyo has teamed up with Healing Little Hearts - another charity dedicated to providing care to children with heart conditions.

There is currently no global strategy to address congenital heart disease (CHD) worldwide. 1 in 100 children is born with CHD, and more than 500,000 of those babies are born in Africa, where access to specialized cardiac care is scarce. In Kenya, approximately 5,000 children need heart surgery each year, yet only 120–150 surgeries are performed. Compare that to the United States, where nearly 40,000 congenital heart surgeries are performed annually. The disparity is heartbreaking.

During this mission, our team will perform 17-20 open-heart surgeries and more than 20 interventional catheters (key-hole surgeries) for children who otherwise would not have access to lifesaving care.

Our goal is to raise $8,000, which covers the starting cost of one open-heart surgery in Kenya. Donations will help fund surgery, critical supplies, and the continued training of local healthcare teams to build sustainable pediatric cardiac programs.
