Hello, my name is, Hope Hyland. I am the daughter of Bryant Hyland, better know as HB. HB has been living in Cloquet, MN his entire life and working at Perkins in Cloquet for 37 years. Growing up anytime we would go somewhere my dad would run into someone he knew. I was always amazed at how my dad knew so many people and realized quickly that it’s because he is just an overall great human being. My dad has touched so many lives throughout his life and is the kindest, most personable, positive, person I’ve known and honestly, I could go on and on about how amazing he is. There isn’t anything my dad wouldn’t do for anyone. I know there is a large community of folks whose lives he’s touched who would be happy to help him out in anyway if ever needed. Though HB is NEVER one to ask for help, sometimes we have to, and that is OKAY. It’s okay to ask for help. So, here we are, reaching out to ask for help.
Six years ago HB began going to the wound clinic for small wounds on both legs. However, due to a lack of insurance he was unable to go as often as necessary. In October when they started getting bigger and growing increasingly painful HB had no choice but to address the issue head on, without insurance. These wounds have covered a large portion of his legs, causing significant pain and have limited his physical mobility. After sometime surgery was needed to help aid in healing these wounds. While his wounds are now slowly, slowly getting better there is still a long road to full recovery. Recently HB started an injection medication for his psoriasis that compromised his immune system. While on this medication HB acquired an injury one of his toes that unfortunately became infected. After trying to fight the infection it was determined by medical professionals that the toe had to go to prevent the infection from spreading. Just recently HB had a second surgery to remove this toe. HB is now, again, unable to work. He will continue to have to go to weekly appointments for his toe and the wounds on his legs until fully healed. We are unsure when he will be able to return to work on a full-time basis. HB does not have insurance, as he does not qualify, and any insurance that he does qualify for is astronomically expensive. The bills from the hospital and clinic are piling up. Finances are tight and running low. So we have come here asking for donations, in any amount, to help HB through this challenging time. Anything we can do to help take some weight off his shoulders will help soooooo much as he heals. HB is itching to get back to work full time, get back out on the fishing boat, play with his grandchildren and live life to the fullest.
Thank you so so much for coming here, reading a bit of HB’s story and donating to his recovery. We truly appreciate each and every one of you.
