Hello, I’m Hazel. I’m a 30 year old trans/nonbinary artist living in Brooklyn who is currently in chemotherapy treatment for cancer. This page is where I can share a bit of my cancer journey if you are interested to know more. :)
MY STORY:
I am currently in treatment for metastatic testicular cancer. I was first diagnosed with cancer in 2023, and underwent surgery right away to remove it. Thankfully the procedure was a success, but 3 years later the cancer has metastasized. I found out in August I have a mass near my kidney and several smaller clusters in my lungs. So, I’m doing chemotherapy. As I write this, I’ve already completed the first chemo cycle. I’m scheduled to finish in early December.
Unfortunately, a week before I received my diagnosis, I quit my full time job in order to start grad school. I’m pursuing a masters in clinical social work! Though I was beyond excited to begin my program, the need to start chemotherapy right away meant deferring attendance until Fall 2027. This news also came just a few days before the semester started and was perhaps the most devastating part. Because of all this, I won’t be able to work for a few months during treatment. I’ve accepted I need support, and here we are. All donations will be going directly to cost of living, namely groceries and utilities.
If you are interested in other ways I’m raising funds to pay for treatment, you can visit my Instagram art page @fairy__fountain. There I will also be sharing updates. :)
Thank you from the bottom of my heart if you are able to donate. But know that ALL the support I’ve received, in any form of kindness or care, is equally appreciated. I am very humbled, and so grateful for the friends and loved ones who’ve shown up for me during this challenging time. I’m the luckiest person there is!!
