Hazel’s Medical Journey
Donation protected
Hazel Irene Shoemaker was born Sunday, September 22nd at 39 weeks gestation. "The day she was born was one of the best yet hardest days of my life, when the doctors told me that my baby was going to be in the NICU and not come home with us."
During her pregnancy the doctors had concerns about Hazel’s kidneys and bladder but nothing that would cause extra care right away. As soon as she was born the doctors took her away from Cassi and out of the room and she wasn’t sure what was going on at that moment. A little while later they told her that Hazel was having trouble breathing on her own and would need to be on ventilator support, and that they were also concerned about her muscle tone and how weak she is. It has now been 43 days and the doctors still have no diagnosis for sweet Hazel. They have waited weeks and weeks for all sorts of test for them to all come back negative. Along with the breathing issue, Hazel is not able to eat on her own due to her low muscle tone. In order for her to come home the doctors will have to put in a feeding tube and that surgery is scheduled for a few weeks from now. At this point the doctors are just keeping her comfortable and stable until we have a plan on what to do next.
Please help us to support Hazel and her medical bills so that she is able to get better and come home soon to be with her family!
