Hazel Mae Van Der Brink was born August 28 at 1 lb 12 oz and 3 months early. Even though she came early, she came out fighting. With no need for a breathing tube, Hazel headed to the NICU and continues to fight. She is on a CPAP machine and has daily episodes of apnea. Some days she needs to be reminded to keep breathing, and other days she reminds herself.

While this is a roller coaster, we remind ourselves that we are blessed to have such a strong and beautiful baby girl. We have the best community of villagers that offer up love and support daily for continued growth and progress.

We will continue to update you on Hazel as her story continues.
