Support Haylie’s Car Accident Recovery Fund

My name is Tatiana, and I am creating this GoFundMe on behalf of my little sister Haylie. Haylie was involved in a horrific car accident on Sunday, March 20 while driving home to her fiancé and two year old daughter. She was ejected from the car and left pinned underneath the vehicle. Haylie was LifeLined to a hospital in Oak Lawn, IL where she is currently undergoing various surgeries and procedures to treat her injuries. Haylie is suffering from a broken spine, neck, hip, and ribs. She also sustained a fracture to her face along with several significant cuts and gashes. During the crash, she also lacerated her liver. She sustained other injuries as well, but these are some of the major impacts we know of so far.

Haylie has already undergone surgery on her hip, and she is scheduled to have surgery on her spine on Wednesday, March 23. She will be having screws put in the thoracic region of her spine from T3-T9 as pictured below. The surgery is expected to last 6-8 hours and paralysis has not yet been ruled out.

While it is a complete miracle that Haylie is alive, she has a long and painful road to recovery ahead of her. Even as she is laying in the hospital full of unknowns, she is cracking jokes and trying to make others smile and laugh. During a time when she should be thinking about herself and her own healing, she is of course thinking of her family and the impacts this tragedy will have on her fiancé Rodney and daughter Amelia. That’s the kind of person Haylie is. She has one of the biggest hearts I’ve ever known. She would do absolutely anything in the world to protect and care for her loved ones, and now she needs the same care and support.

 

Right now what Haylie needs most is peace of mind as she begins her journey to healing and recovery. Haylie is facing mounting medical bills and is currently without a car as hers was totaled in the accident. They also have to account for days her fiancé will need to take off work to be by her side during this difficult time, gas money to and from the hospital, care for her daughter Amelia, and care for Haylie once she returns home. She needs to know that Rodney and Amelia are not going to suffer financial hardships so that she can put her focus fully on her recovery.

Haylie is one of the strongest human beings I have ever been blessed to know. She has not always been dealt the easiest of circumstances. In fact, many times she’s had the exact opposite. But through her life she’s always managed keep smiling and seeing the very best in others. Through this GoFundMe, I am hoping to show my little sister just how much she is loved and that she is right to see the good in the people around her.
