Support Haylee's Recovery from AVM Surgery

UPDATE: 4/4/2025 Our 8th day in the PICU( Pedritatics Intenstive Care Unit) and Haylee had a good night. She is getting her meds dropped down still and she has a central line in her groin being removed and they are going to put in two midlines in each arm this is a good thing!! She is also getting her tube remove from her throat and they will allow her to wake up more to do this. Please keep the prayers coming she does have a temperature they are monitoring to be expected with a TBI. Please keep praying for her and please sharing her story. She has a long road ahead still, bit at least we still have the ability to see her go down this road. Thank you all so so so so much I don't have anymore words to express my gratitude for you all❤️

UPDATE 4/3/2025 Another rough night Haylee don't seem to like night time or she may have her times confused. So MRI came back good neurosurgeon said as expected with her brain injury so that is definitely good news to hear. The one thing that sucks is this tube they are weening her off heavily sedated medications so she can become more aware and breathe better on her own to take out the tube, but since she has been so sedated she maybe having withdraws which they give her other meds for its just hard to watch her in pain and puking. She is also spiking fevers so these cooling patches that are keeping her cold are also making her shiver. Please continue to pray for her and us. We are so extremely exhausted and just want our baby to be comfortable.

UPDATE:4/1/2025 Haylee had her CT scan no change from this morning. They have her on meds sedated still but they removed her EVD the neurosurgeon felt that she didn't need it anyone, they also removed her bandages to clean her wound from the surgery and let it get some air. She wants to wake up she is showing so many signs, but they would like her to still rest another day. She has another CT scan in the am to make sure things are still good if they show good signs then they will start weening her down on her meds to wake up more to breath on her own and then remove the ventilator. Please keep praying for our baby. Love you all and live every moment likes it's your last hug the ones you love don't sweat the little things because within a blink it can all be taken away. My baby is beyond blessed and about to start an unknown journey, but we are so blessed she is still here. We still have some obstacles but with all the prayers, love and faith that all of you have for her and us we are seeing miracles❤️

UPDATE 3/31/2025: Haylee had a good night. She was taken off of her blood pressure medicine and is regulating it on her own since around 5pm yesterday. She had her CT scan and neurologist said it looks good she still has some blood so she will need the drain for a minimal of at least a week. She is waking up more than they like so they may have to change her meds because she is maxed out as of right now. Our little girl just wants to wake up but she can't right now because that will send her ICP levels to high. She has a few skin issues they are taking care of, one on her head from being shaved and another under her chin from moisture and drool. She did bite her tongue and has chapped lips so they are going to try a different moisturizer. Thank you everyone who has reached out, came to visit, said prayers, brought us food, checked on us, donated and just being there for whatever we need. We appreciate you all so much and can't express how much all of this love and support means to us. Please keep Haylee and all of our family in your prayers.

UPDATE 3/30/2025 Haylee has had a pretty good day today. It's been very quiet she has had a couple visitors and some low numbers today. She is stable and her ICP levels are doing well. They have been slightly up and down, but to be expected. She is swollen but that is slowly going down due to her pushing the fluid through her kidneys and out of her body. She does have a CT scan tomorrow to check on her brain and swelling or if any other issues are present. She has been weened off her blood pressure medicine for the last 2 hrs and it's been holding steady. Please keep praying for our baby, we love you all and am so grateful for all the love being sent our way.

UPDATE: 3/30/2025 (night before)She had a pretty good night her ICP (Intracranial Pressure) numbers were on the high side to be expected with her swelling starting to peak its within its 48 to 72 hour stretch. She is quite swollen to be expected as well. Neurologist came because her EVD(External Ventricular Drain) was clogged so they had to flush it, which then it started working fine again. She is heavily sedated still and she is still on a breathing machine and hooked up to an EEG to monitor her brain waves. I will keep you all posted when we receive updates on her. There are no amount of words to express all the out pour of love and prayers for her and us. Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts. Keep praying for our little girl.

UPDATE 3/29/2025 Haylee's echocardiogram came back good no issues with her heart. She then was taken for another CT scan so the neurologist could check the swelling in her brain and to make sure she had no more issues. She is very heavily sedated right now to control the swelling it peaks between 42 and 72hrs we are at 50hrs with minimal swelling. They also have her hooked up to an EEG to montior her brain waves and electrical connections. Keep the prayers coming everyone. She is a tough little girl but still needs all the prayers she can get. Pray for strength for me and my family. We are so appreciative of everyone reaching out we love you all and are so humbled from all the out pour of love for Haylee and our family.

UPDATE 3/28/2025: Little update on Haylee. She is getting an echocardiogram she had some arrhythmia so they want to check her heart and make sure everything is okay she is heavily sedated due to swelling because we are entering that 48 to 72hr phase were the swelling peaks. She will have EEG later because they can't do her vitals check regularly because of the sedation to make sure her brain is responding without stimulating her. We need her to get past these couple more days. She still has a long journey ahead of her. She is a fighter and she is so loved just keep praying for her everyone.

My name is Michelle Peterson, and I am the grandmother of Haylee Boyd. Haylee is 9 years old and had a medical emergency on March 27. She was rushed to Sanford's Children's Hospital for stroke-like symptoms. Upon arriving, they did a CT scan and found bleeding on the brain. The neurologist requested an MRI that revealed Haylee had developed abnormal vessels in her brain called AVM (Arteriovenous Malformation), and some had ruptured. They then had to proceed with a craniotomy (removing a portion of the skull to access the brain) and a ventriculostomy (to drain fluid from her brain). She made it through both procedures. She then had an angiogram done to make sure the surgeon was able to remove all abnormal vessels and damaged ones and to make sure there was no more brain bleeding. We are now at the waiting stage to see how the swelling goes and monitoring her.

She has had countless blood tests, EEG, echocardiogram, multiple CT scans, multiple medications, and multiple MRIs.
