Lillian “Lilly” Grace Henderson was born on April 10th to Hayes and Rica. On April 9th, Rica was transferred from Baptist Hospital in Oxford to UMMC in Jackson because Lilly had a pleural effusion and a pericardial effusion — she had fluid around her lungs and her heart.

On April 10th, Rica had an emergency C-section and Lilly was immediately taken to the NICU. She turned one month old on 5/10, and has spent all of that month in the NICU with Chylothorax — which causes fluid to build up around her lungs. At different times, she’s had a partially collapsed lung, chest and feeding tubes, and has been on a ventilator. Through it all she has been a happy baby but she still has a long road ahead. Pending further tests, she may need surgery soon. She will also have lots of doctor’s appointments and will need special treatments once she is discharged, which might not be for several more weeks.

Unfortunately, Hayes and Rica are not working right now to stay in Jackson, MS with their baby girl. They are already wonderful parents! Lilly is so loved by so many and we want to support Hayes and Rica as they help her through the next few months of treatment.
