A few days after his 32nd birthday, Hayden Pedigo was flying home from a short stint of live shows. On a layover, his wife, L'Hannah, told him over the phone that she didn't feel well and was heading to the hospital. L'Hannah was 7 months pregnant. Upon landing, Hayden rushed to the hospital where their daughter, Emerald Pedigo, was born two months premature at 3lbs 3oz.
That was March 29. Emerald is still in the hospital. And it's been projected that she could remain there for up to four more months. The primary hurdle Emerald faces is growth, stemming from a large ventricular septal defect (VSD) – a hole in her heart. As a result of the VSD, her lungs are stressed, she's had a couple major infections, and her growth is restricted. Her current weight is 6.5 lbs.
In addition to the emotional weight of caring for Emerald, Hayden and L'Hannah have been unable to work. With the prospect of more hospital time – after already spending over 100 days in the NICU – the future is uncertain for concerts, commissions, and additional means of livelihood. Support for groceries, a mortgage, and ongoing care is essential. At this time, we are unsure what insurance will cover.
My name is Forest Juziuk. Since 2022, I have been artist manager, confidante, and close friend to Hayden Pedigo and his wife L'Hannah. I've been party to their successes, hurdles, decisions and trials. My love for them as human beings – caring, incredibly friendly, loving, supportive – is massive and they could use our help.
