My name is Jehan AlHusaini, a Palestinian journalist from Gaza. I founded Haya Washington as a media nonprofit organization in 2017, however, since October 2023, the focus of Haya's work has shifted solely to provide aid to the people of Gaza.

Thanks to the generous support of communities and partner organizations—including Bloom and Doctors Against Genocide—we have been able to provide hot meals, fresh bread, and clean water every day since December 2023. Despite immense challenges, including the heartbreaking loss of team members working on the ground in soup kitchens and documenting the devastating conditions, our commitment has never wavered. We have continued our efforts daily, driven by purpose and resilience.

Our Goal: 1 Million Meals for 1 Million People in Gaza

Our team is working tirelessly on the ground every day to prepare and distribute warm meals to families living in refugee camps, often in areas that other organizations are unable to reach. These families, at their most vulnerable, face a heightened risk of hunger and malnutrition.

Here’s a glimpse of what your donations have made possible so far:

• 3 food initiatives serving 220 families in Mawasi Khan Younis — Al Mohajreen Camp, Al Sadaqa Camp, and Yebna Camp.

• 1 bread distribution initiative benefiting 50 families in Mawasi Khan Younis.

• 1 water distribution initiative delivering 4,300 liters of clean water to 300 families in Mawasi Khan Younis.

• 2 food initiatives in Al Nusseirat area — Al Qasem Camp and Al Zawaidah Camp — each benefiting 800 individuals.

• 2 water initiatives in Al Nusseirat area — Al Qasem Camp and Al Zawaidah Camp distributing 8,000 liters of water each to 400 families.

• 2 bread distribution initiatives in Al Nusseirat area — Al Qasem Camp and Al Zawaidah Camp benefiting 200 individuals each.

Each of these numbers represents a real life — children, mothers, and the elderly. Families who won't sleep hungry because of your support today.

A ceasefire has been announced. As the situation starts to deescalate and borders slowly reopen, we expect more food supplies to enter Gaza, giving our team the opportunity to expand our efforts. However, due to the influx of refugee families from Northern Gaza city, our efforts have now doubled.
