Support Hawk's Farewell Service

We are looking for assistance covering the cost of a funeral service for long-term client and well-known member of the community. Stephen Hawkins, better known as Hawk, passed on March 20th. We are hoping we can share a little about him and hopefully garner some support to be able to facilitate a service for him.

towards the latter part of his life, Hawk battled several serious medical ailments and was refined to a wheelchair. He spent many years unhoused in the Charleston area.

Despite these challenges, Hawk was very well known and positively regarded by all that knew him. He had a strong network of brothers and sisters on the street. He had a very strong faith and enjoyed attending church services. He was an excellent chess player and could be spotted around downtown playing in various parks with friends. He seemed to make friends with everyone he met. He was known to spread kindness and positivity even while his circumstances caused him a great deal of suffering.

His family has been working to get his service scheduled at Murrays Mortuary. We are looking for any help we can find to be able to lay our friend to rest in a respectable manner.
