My name is Hasan, and I’m working toward opening my own tax preparation business while pursuing my dream of becoming a high school history teacher. I’m preparing to enter Binghamton University’s MAT program, and along the way I’ve discovered how much I love helping people — whether it’s students I mentor or families I assist with taxes.

I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, completed tax internships, and gained hands-on experience at H&R Block preparing individual tax returns. Through that work, I realized I have a strength for explaining complex financial topics in a calm, simple, and patient way. That skill inspired me to begin building a small tax practice of my own.

I’m also working toward becoming an IRS Enrolled Agent (EA), a federally authorized tax professional credential that will allow me to better represent taxpayers and serve my community. My long-term goal is to be both a dedicated teacher and a trusted tax specialist, helping people navigate important financial decisions with clarity and confidence.

I’m trying to start small and build this business from home, but I’m facing financial challenges that make it difficult to afford the essentials I need to get started:

A dedicated computer for tax preparation

A printer and scanner

Secure storage for client documents

A simple desk and chairs

Business cards and flyers

A basic website

Study materials and exam fees for the EA certification

Outside of academics and tax work, I volunteer with the Star Wars 501st Legion as a TIE Pilot, participating in charity events and community outreach. I also mentor elementary students in the Binghamton City School District. Giving back has always been important to me, and starting this business is another way I hope to serve others.
