I am raising funds to complete a documentary about Harvard Men’s Heavyweight Rowing so more people can feel what this sport gives: focus, trust, follow-through and shared purpose. Your support goes to post-production (sound design, colour, hard drives & backups) and to sharing the film through festival submissions and community screenings.

Please read below for more details about this exciting project! :

"At the Catch": The moment when a rower places their oar into the water at the start of the stroke. It sets the tone for the power and efficiency of the stroke that follows. It captures the intensity, precision, and readiness required in rowing, a fitting metaphor for the beginning of a rower’s journey.

Join us on an exhilarating journey with the Harvard Men's Heavyweight Rowing Team through the upcoming documentary, At the Catch. Like a great basketball game or soccer match, the stakes are clear and the flow is intuitive. This documentary will be accessible on the surface while remaining authentic at its core, welcoming both newcomers and lifelong rowers. We follow this year's racing season, looking closely at the balance between individual ambition and collective success. Our lens zones in on several rowers, their paths onto one of the world’s most competitive teams and the pressure to stay there. In the relentless rhythm of training, the fight for a seat in the boat is as aggressive as the races. Every stroke counts and no spot is guaranteed. Experience the passion, discipline and dedication as these athletes gear up for a season-defining test of skill and determination.

  • As a former rower, I know how a boat feels when it flies and when it doesn’t. I know the burn of a 2k and the peace of an early morning paddle. At the Catch is my love letter to the sport that helped shape me, and a meditation on the strength and fragility it demands. (Madeline Brownbill, Director)
