Update — May 2026

A lot has changed since this campaign was first written.

And a lot has not.

I am still here. Still building. Still alive — which, if you knew the full story, you would understand is not a small thing.

Here is where I am right now.

I finished writing the memoir.

Not a memoir I planned from safety. A memoir written from inside the life it documents — in real time, through medical fragility, disability, abandonment, institutional failure, foreclosure, and the movement I kept building anyway.

The last chapter was written only a few weeks ago, because the story was still unfolding while I was writing it.

The book will be published within the next three to four weeks.

At the same time, The Sahana Movement — the ecosystem I have been building to change how the world holds human beings — has launched its first real offering: The Self-Perception Studio.

The Self-Perception Studio is a first-of-its-kind space for people to encounter their own lived experience from the inside, without labels, performance, or hierarchy. It exists because I kept building even while everything around me was collapsing.

And right now, with the finish line finally visible, my house is in foreclosure.

I am not fighting it. I am working toward a deed in lieu arrangement so I can transition with dignity over the next few months.

But I need to move into a safe home — one my body can actually function in.

I have updated this campaign to a $15,000 transition and safe-housing goal.

The most urgent need is securing and setting up a safer next home:
  • rent, security deposit, packing help, movers, move-related labor
  • home essentials, pet supplies, pet-safe setup
  • and the accessibility and safety setup my disabled body needs in the next place.

Some parts of survival are being held through existing supports.
  • I get food through donation centers.
  • Medical transportation is covered through Modivcare offered from Alameda Alliance Medi-Cal insurance
  • and some non-medical transportation may be covered through Community Resources for Independent Living (CRIL).
  • I am also exploring whether CRIL can help with parts of the move.

But those supports do not cover the full cost of securing and setting up a safe home.

I live with complex chronic illness and disability. My body cannot simply “push through” unsafe housing, inaccessible layouts, overwhelm, or repeated crisis.
I also care for my animals (documented support animals— Toffee (dog), Milo (cat), Nacho, and Cheese (chinchillas) — whose safety and stability are part of my own.

I have been denied many public benefits. I am building a movement designed to change the world from inside the exact conditions that movement exists to address.

I am not telling you this for sympathy.

I am telling you because you deserve to know what is actually happening — and because what I am weeks away from releasing into the world deserves a foundation to land on.

The memoir is the proof.

The movement is the response.

And I am the person who built both from empty, with everything on the line.

If this work matters to you — if you can see what is being built and want it to reach the world — this is the moment when support makes a material difference.

A small contribution moves something real right now.

A share moves even more.

And practical help — housing leads, packing help, moving coordination, admin support, tech support, pet support, home setup, or village coordination — matters deeply too.

Ways to support — whatever fits your capacity:

GoFundMe — larger stability, moving, accessibility, legal/admin, and life-sustaining support

Venmo — immediate flexible help when things shift suddenly
venmo.com/u/Harshini-Busireddy

Amazon Wishlist — direct essentials for me, my home, and my animals

Gift Cards — groceries, meals, pet care, delivery, cleaning, repairs, and practical support

Ko-fi — small ongoing contributions that add up to rest and continuity

Lotsa Helping Hands — offer time, admin, tech, errands, coordination, or practical help

Original Campaign Story — 2025
The section below reflects the original campaign context.
The May 2026 update above is the current situation and most accurate support need.

---------------------------------------------------------
Hi all,

A lot has happened since this fundraiser was posted. I am still in financial hardship and also, still alive! I am grateful to be alive and still choosing impact over outcomes.

2025 changed a lot for me, you can see my newsletter at https://harshinibusireddy.com/newsletter-2025/
Your support would mean a lot to me as I continue to build myself a life I deserve with the limited physical and cognitive capacity I live with, while leading a global movement to build a world we all deserve.

Thank you for understanding that my following information has not been updated yet not because it isn't important to me, but because I only have little capacity I am doing my best to protect.

I appreciate you
-------
Hi, I’m Harshini Busireddy.

I am a trauma survivor, an asylum seeker, and a recently disabled woman with a collapsing nervous system.

I am also the founder of The Sahana Movement—a global effort to center well-being at the core of lives by redesigning the way we treat care, children, and systems. Someone who believes that no one should ever have to earn their right to rest, to be heard, to live.

But right now, I am at the edge.

Not because I’ve given up—

but because I’ve given everything just to survive.

I have just $87 left in my bank account (as of June 1, 2025). I cannot legally earn income until at least late July 2025 due to my pending asylum application.

And my mortgage is due in days.

This isn’t a story about needing extra help. This is about what it takes to stay alive when the systems meant to support you never showed up. This is the story of what survival really looks like—raw, exhausted, and still full of fire.

My Final Scream – YouTube Video
(Watch above)

This isn’t a cry for help.

It’s a witness to what happens when someone has done everything—and is still falling.

Watch it. Share it. Let it echo where systems failed.

---------------

Why I’m Raising Funds

After three decades of severe trauma and undiagnosed pain, I was recently diagnosed with:

  • Fibromyalgia – a chronic neurological pain condition, with central sensitization
  • Autonomic Nervous System Dysfunction – my body can no longer regulate blood pressure, temperature, or basic survival functions
  • Severe systemic inflammation – requiring anti-inflammatory lifestyle and nutrition
  • Endometriosis – gynecological condition causing significant pain and period bleeding
  • Hepatic adenoma – rapidly growing hormone-sensitive benign tumor (is now close to size of potential rupture/cancer transformation, needing treatment)

I’ve lost my mobility, I now experience multiple shutdowns a day, and cannot safely stand, walk, or cook without assistive tools. I’ve spent over $32,000 out-of-pocket in the past year—until there was nothing left to spend. I recently went into a functional coma state (coma state without physical trauma to brain) due to my fragile nervous system being overwhelmed, and I am just recovering from it.

And still, I’ve kept going—

rebuilding my home to support my body,

creating a life of dignity and safety,

and leading a movement that will outlive me.

But I can’t do it alone anymore. I never should have had to.

-----------

What This Represents

I’m not just trying to “get by.”

I’m building a life I can actually live in—where my body isn’t punished for trying to exist, and where healing is possible.

This GoFundMe isn’t about charity.

It’s about sustainability, survival, and legacy.

Every dollar, every wishlist item, every share is part of a net I’m asking you to build beneath me—because I am falling.

Not in despair, but in exhaustion.

What Your Support Will Fund

1. Housing + Survival Essentials
  • Mortgage + basic utilities to stay safely housed
  • Food, hygiene items, and daily survival costs
  • Pet care for my emotional support animals (Toffee, Milo, Nacho, and Cheese)
  • Safe transportation to critical medical appointments

2. Medical & Assistive Needs
  • Co-pays, assistive gear, and supplies not covered by Medi-Cal
  • Power wheelchair
  • Clothing that can help regulate my thermal dysregulation

3. Critical Home Modifications
These are not upgrades—they are medical necessities:
  • Vinyl flooring to replace carpet downstairs (I can’t safely use a walker or wheelchair on carpet)
  • Creating a livable/functional bedroom space with a kitchenette, seating area, and storage
  • Portable ramps (my HOA doesn’t allow permanent ones)
  • Air filters and weather sealing to block neighbors’ smoke, which triggers severe lung flares
  • Stair access tools (I faint when climbing stairs, even with help)

4. Legal + Life Circumstances
I am waiting for asylum and work authorization approval. Until then:
  • I am not legally allowed to earn income (hoping for late July at the earliest for work authorization)
  • I am not qualified for many govt. funding/support programs

I need help to bridge this gap—just long enough to make it to safety.

----------

Prefer to Buy an Item Instead of Donating?

I’ve created a public Amazon Wishlist with items that directly meet my medical, daily, and survival needs:

Everything on this list is intentional.

Each item reduces strain, protects my nervous system, or allows me to keep functioning with dignity.

----------

Want to Help More Directly?

I’ve created a short form for those offering immediate or sustaining support beyond donating, buying, or sharing—whether financially, logistically, legally, or practically.

It helps me match offers with what I truly need, without adding to my overwhelm.

I’ll reach out if and when your support aligns with what I need at the time.
Thank you for respecting my capacity and truth. Thank you for caring.

----------

Why This Matters

I am the founder of The Sahana Movement, a global call to center well-being at every level—from childhood to healthcare to how we measure work.

But movements need foundations. And I am the foundation.

If I collapse, this movement loses its voice.

If I survive, the legacy we’re building lives on.

Your support is not just helping me survive. It’s helping shape a world where no one else has to live like this again.

------------

If This Speaks to You…

Please act.

Donate.

Buy something from the list.

Share this with people who care.

And even if you can’t give—know this:

You matter. I believe in you.
And what you do next… matters.

With truth and fire,
Harshini
