The Harris Family needs our help!

The Harris family has endured more heartache and hardship than anyone should ever have to bear. Five years ago, my sister Paula and her husband Michael tragically lost their daughter Seana, an only child and single mother of three, from a devastating asthma attack. They have lovingly taken on the full-time care of their precious grandchildren which required Paula to leave her job. Michael was permanently disabled and forced into early retirement as a result of a very serious work-injury.

In the face of immense grief, this family clung to each other, finding strength and solace in their love. They built a life together, a modest home filled with laughter, memories of Seana, and the promise of a brighter future.

But tragedy struck again. An electrical fire, swift and mercilessly, tore through their home, leaving nothing but charred ruins in its wake. Thanks to the quick thinking and bravery of their 15 year old grandson, Cameron, who rushed in and saved his grandfather who was overcome by the thick black smoke, no one was lost.  Most everything else was lost due to extensive smoke and fire damage. Cherished photographs, irreplaceable mementos of Seana, as well as their: clothing, food, kitchen appliances, household electronics and furniture, and bedding, athletic gear and equipment, personal belongings and everyday essentials – gone in an instant.

For the past two weeks they have been living in hotels, desperately trying to find their footing amidst the ashes of their former life. They have secured temporary housing, but the cost of rebuilding their home, replacing their belongings, and simply getting back on their feet is overwhelming.

Paula and Michael need our financial support to rebuild their lives, to create a new home where their grandchildren can feel safe. They need our help to replace the everyday essentials they lost, to put food on their table, and to begin the slow process of healing.
