My name is Lovepreet Singh and I am writing this with a heavy and broken heart. My cousin sister, Harpreet Kaur, a bright and hardworking international student, had her world shattered in an instant.
On 10 Oct, 2025, she had a devastating fall on the driveway and suffered a catastrophic injury: her femur—the thigh bone—was broken in three places. It’s a severe and incredibly painful injury that requires immediate and complex surgery.
Harpreet is the bravest person I know. She came to Canada with so many hopes and dreams, not just for herself, but for her entire family back home. She worked tirelessly, balancing her studies while working part-time to support herself and send money back to our parents. She was her family's lifeline, their pride, and their hope for a better future.
Now, she is lying in a hospital bed, facing a mountain of fear and uncertainty.
In a cruel twist of fate, this accident happened during a small gap in her student life. Her previous insurance from her college had just expired as she completed her first year. She had already applied for her study permit extension and was waiting for its approval to begin her next term and get new insurance. She was doing everything right, but this terrible accident happened in that vulnerable window.
Because she is without insurance, the estimated cost for her surgery, hospital stay, and the necessary follow-up care is a staggering $40,000 to $50,000.
This is a life-altering amount of money that is completely beyond her reach. To make matters even more heartbreaking, doctors have told us she will be bedridden for at least six weeks to recover. She cannot work, she cannot study, and she cannot even travel home. Our family is thousands of miles away, and due to visa restrictions, they are unable to come to Canada to be by her side and care for her.
She is facing this long, painful journey completely alone.
The person who was the pillar of strength for her family is now the one who needs to be held up. The hands that worked so hard to send money home are now the ones that need help.
She is humbly and desperately turning to you—our friends, community, and kind strangers—for help. Your support would mean more than just paying a medical bill. It would give my sister a chance to walk again, to finish her studies, and to rebuild the dream she has fought so hard for.
The funds raised will be used exclusively for:
• Her emergency surgery and hospital fees
• Anesthesia and medication costs
• Post-operative care and extensive physical therapy
• Basic living expenses during her six-month recovery period
Any amount you can donate will make a world of difference. If you are unable to contribute financially, please, please share this campaign with your network. Your share could be the one that reaches someone who can help.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for reading our story, for your compassion, and for any support you can offer. We are praying for a miracle, and right now, you can be a part of it.
With immense gratitude,
Lovepreet Singh
