Hello all,

Today I received a text from my mom that read “Harp was attacked by a dog at Webb Mountain. Not sure if he will make it.”

For those who don’t know, my parents’ dog, Harpo, is a sweet little rat terrier mix who likes to snuggle, play fetch and bark at animals on TV. My parents rescued him with the help of the a local group who brings dogs from the Southeast to the Northeast in hopes that they have a better chance of finding their forever home.

Harpo has been a part of our family for 10 years or so and has never left my brother’s side. Unfortunately, on a routine walk at Webb Mountain Park in Monroe, CT, Harpo was attacked by a Rottweiler who was off leash which required Harpo to get emergency surgery.

Ryan, my brother, rushed him to the animal hospital despite the wounds he suffered himself and now we wait to see if he will make it.

The bill my parents were handed for this treatment was 25k. My father recently retired at the age of 71 and obviously did not plan for this.

My brother was in such a rush that we do not currently have the identity of the owner to seek compensation. In the meantime, any financial support or guidance would mean the world to myself and my family.
