Please help Hanna prepare for Law school
Donation protected
Dear Friends and Supporters,
My name is Hanna, and with it being close to the holidays, I am shamelessly reaching out to ask for your support as I embark on the challenging journey of preparing for law school in the United States.
After working in different career fields (education, marketing, PR etc.) and meeting numerous people, going to law school has become a big goal of mine. Therefore, I am deeply committed to making this goal a reality. However, as many of you know, law school preparation is both time-intensive and financially demanding, and, unfortunately, I cannot do it alone.
How your donations will be used :
(I am also on Venmo as @Hy810 )
All funds raised will go directly toward:
1. Law School Prep Programs ( 5 - 6months )
:
To excel on the LSAT and build strong applications, I need to enroll in specialized prep programs. Living in Seoul, South Korea, limits my options, as these programs are scarce and significantly more expensive compared to those available in the United States. On average, programs in Seoul cost about ₩ 1,758,816 ~ ₩ 2,859,016 ($1,200 ~ $2,000 USD) per month.
2. Books and Materials :
Importing American academic books to Korea comes with steep costs—almost triple the price compared to the U.S. For example, the Kaplan LSAT Prep Plus book, which costs $36 on Amazon, is sold at a bookstore here for over $82. These materials are essential for my success, but they represent a significant financial burden.
3. Essential Living Expenses :
Unfortunately, because tutoring is currently my full-time job, I do not qualify for credit cards / loans in S. Korea. I am currently doing my best to pay everything with my savings account, however, as time passes I may have to use some donations towards living expenses.
My Background
I graduated from the University of Texas at Austin (Hook ‘em Horns!), where I was fortunate to receive financial aid and scholarships. During my time there, I worked tirelessly to support myself. I balanced unpaid internships, worked on-campus jobs, tutored ESL students, worked at an SAT academy, provided translation services, and babysat every weekend. These experiences taught me the value of hard work, perseverance, and time management—qualities I carry with me to this day.
As some of you may know, earlier last year, I faced a difficult setback when I was unfairly dismissed from a teaching position at an international school. Since then, I’ve been supporting myself through tutoring, essay/college application assistance, and freelance translation work. Unfortunately, despite my efforts, it is not enough to cover the costs of living expenses + law school preparation.
Adding to this challenge is the fact that my parents are unable to provide any financial assistance.
As a result, I’ve had to rely solely on myself, which makes this process even more difficult.
Why you should donate to me
In a world facing wars, crises, and injustices, it’s easy to wonder why you should support someone like me.
But I believe in the ripple effect: your help today can lead to transformative change tomorrow.
Your contribution isn’t just helping me prepare for law school—it’s an investment in a future Korean-American attorney committed to making a difference. Whether it’s advocating for the Korean-American community, and underserved communities, fighting for a fairer legal system, or mentoring the next generation of lawyers, I promise to pay your generosity forward.
To be honest, this decision to ask for help was not easy. I’ve always prided myself on my independence, and seeking financial support feels humbling, uncomfortable, and even humiliating. But I’m willing to put all this aside because I believe in my goal and my ability to make a meaningful difference as a lawyer.
No matter the size, your support means more than words can express.
It’s not just financial aid—it’s a vote of confidence in my potential to break barriers, create access, and drive change.
Thank you for believing in me and the future we can build together.
If you choose to support me, I would be happy to keep you updated on my progress.
Sharing my journey with you would be my way of showing how much your generosity means to me.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for being part of this journey.
With your help, I’m confident I can overcome these challenges and take meaningful steps toward achieving bigger goals.
With love and hope for others as they go through their own battles,
Hanna
