Support Hannah's Stroke Recovery Journey

Donation protected
On January 19, 2025, we welcomed our beautiful son, Asa, into the world. His first two weeks were spent in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) at Rady’s Children’s Hospital in San Diego due to meconium aspiration in his lungs. After two weeks of worry and hope, we were finally able to bring Asa home.

Just two days later, our world was turned upside down when my wife, Hannah, suffered a massive stroke just two weeks after giving birth. The stroke caused severe brain damage and left her partially paralyzed on the left side of her body. In an instant, our joyful transition into parenthood became a battle for Hannah’s life. Her case is a rare anomaly, leaving doctors both baffled and deeply concerned, especially given that she’s only 32.

Hannah spent a month in the hospital undergoing intensive care, battling immense challenges with courage and resilience. She has since begun intensive physical, occupational, and cognitive therapy, working every day to regain her mobility, speech, and independence. Despite her strength, the road ahead is long and uncertain, and our family is navigating this journey with the weight of medical expenses, caregiving, and the needs of our newborn son.

Why We Need Your Help
We are asking for $50,000 to help cover the overwhelming costs of Hannah’s ongoing recovery. Every dollar will go directly toward:
  • Physical, occupational, and cognitive therapies to help Hannah regain strength, mobility, and independence.
  • Acupuncture and alternative treatments to aid in neurological and mobility healing.
  • Specialized medical care including hematology, neurology, and rheumatology appointments to identify the cause of Hannah’s stroke and prevent future strokes.
  • Mobility equipment and home modifications to accommodate Hannah’s evolving needs as she regains movement.
  • Childcare and household support so that I can continue working while ensuring both Hannah and Asa receive the care they need.

The journey ahead is daunting, but we are determined to provide Hannah with the best possible care and give Asa the loving, stable home he deserves.

How You Can Help
Your support whether through donations, prayers, or simply sharing our story means the world to us. Here’s how you can help:
  • Donate – Any amount, big or small, helps us provide for Hannah’s medical and rehabilitation needs.
  • Share – Spreading our story on social media, in your community, or with people who may want to help can go a long way.
  • Send Love & Encouragement – Messages, prayers, and words of support lift our spirits and remind us we’re not alone in this fight.

We never imagined we’d be in this position, but we are holding onto hope, love, and the kindness of those around us. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for being part of our journey toward Hannah’s healing and our family’s future.

With gratitude,
Zach, Hannah, and Asa Baur
