Help Hannah Give Her Baby Boy Ayden a Proper Goodbye

My dear friend Hannah was overjoyed to learn she was expecting a baby in October 2024. Like any excited mom-to-be, she dreamed of bringing her baby boy home this July, decorating his nursery, and holding him in her arms. But her happiness was shattered during her 20-week anatomy scan, when doctors discovered unexpected anomalies in baby Ayden’s body.

Hannah and her family endured weeks of uncertainty and fear as they underwent countless tests—amniocentesis, genetic screenings, and infection testing. Each result came back normal, but the anomalies persisted. Hoping for answers, they sought a second opinion and more advanced testing. Heartbreakingly, the specialists found additional complications and told Hannah there were no interventions that could help Ayden. They were given the devastating news that his chance of survival was less than 2%.

Despite the odds, Hannah continued to hope and love her baby with all her heart. But just two weeks later, at a routine checkup, doctors could not find Ayden’s heartbeat. The hospital confirmed that Ayden had passed away, and Hannah faced the unimaginable task of delivering her precious son as a stillborn.

No parent is ever prepared for this kind of loss. Instead of bringing her baby home, Hannah is now faced with planning a funeral and saying goodbye far too soon.
