Hi, my name is Hannah and I’m 25 years old. If you’re seeing this, thanks for being here. Earlier this year I was told I have to get my right hip fully replaced and take 6-8 weeks off of work to recover.
At 18 I underwent my first hip surgery to correct a femoroacetabular impingement and was told I should be good to go. Within 2 years I was back in the orthopedic doctor’s office having nearly the same issues. In 2021, I saw a doctor who wanted to perform surgery to correct hip dysplasia – something that was not new and they should have sought out to fix during the first surgery. Unfortunately, I was not in a place where I was able to get the surgery and tried to move onward. .
At the beginning of this summer, after losing my insurance for a while and finding a new primary care provider, I was able to see a new orthopedic surgeon. He immediately told me the hip is arthritic and the ball and socket have fused; there’s no option but other than a full replacement. So here we are ! Surgery is scheduled for January 15, 2026.
With this fundraiser we are hoping to cover the 6-8 weeks that I will be unable to work – and then some. I was out for an extra 3 weeks after my last hip surgery and that is a concern of ours this time around as well. We need to raise at least $3,000 to cover the 6-8 weeks off, and $4,500 for cushion. The money will be put towards rent, utilities, food, and other personal expenses.
Everything helps and I am grateful that you took the time to read this. If you’re unable to donate, please share around for those that may be able to.
With love and gratitude,
Hannah
