Three years ago, my life changed forever. I was at one of the lowest points in my life, struggling with addiction and depression, when I found a little black puppy abandoned on the side of the road. He was only 10 weeks old, abused, injured, and left for dead. I didn’t know it at the time, but saving him would end up saving me too.
We named him Hank. From the moment I picked him up, I knew he needed me — and I soon realized I needed him even more. Nursing Hank back to health gave me purpose. Through the bond we formed, I found the strength to get sober, rebuild my life, and rediscover happiness. Hank became my emotional support dog, my best friend, and my constant reminder that even in brokenness, there’s hope.
As Hank grew, we realized his early abuse had left lasting damage. His hips never healed properly, and now, at just 3 years old, he needs a hip replacement. Without surgery, his pain will only get worse. The cost of this life-changing procedure is $15,000, and while we have worked hard to build a small family business, this is more than we can manage alone.
Hank’s story is also the heart behind Moosehead Candles, the company my wife and I started to “pay forward” what Hank gave to me. Because he gave me my second chance, we made it our mission to help other animals in need. Every sale supports animal rescues, and thanks to our amazing customers, we’ve been able to donate thousands of dollars to shelters and rescue organizations.
Now, the dog who inspired it all needs your help.
If Hank has touched your heart the way he’s touched mine, please consider donating to his surgery fund. Even a few dollars brings us closer to getting him out of pain and back to chasing balls, wagging his tail, and enjoying the life he deserves.
If you aren’t able to give, sharing Hank’s story means the world to us.
From the bottom of my heart — and on behalf of Hank — thank you for believing in second chances.
With gratitude,
Larry Adamick
