Support Halo's Surgery for a Cancer-Free Future

Community came together and showed up when Halo's sister, Frenchie, was in need of a life saving surgery after learning she had a birth defect - we are creating this gofundme to ask that her brother Halo has the same chance that Frenchie was given.

Halo, turning 3 on Veteran's Day (November 11th) is a gentle giant, one of the sweetest German Shepherd Dogs ever to grace this world's presence with his sheer goofiness. Unfortunately, like his sister, it's been discovered that Halo is cryptorchid - meaning that one of his testicles traveled out of his abdomen but stopped, just short of the prostate, in the inguinal area outside of the abdomen wall.

While this may not seem like such a huge deal when reading it at first, several veterinary evaluations have confirmed that this condition leads to extremely high risk of Halo developing testicular cancer if the rogue testicle is not removed surgically.

Halo already underwent exploratory surgery when he was neutered, however the testicle could not be located at that time. It was only after several more second opinion appointments that Michelle and Brent were abel to get him in for an ultrasound where the it was finally located, but confirming the desperate need for it's surgical removal.

Ultimately, the surgery has to be completed at Eastern Carolina Veterinary Referral in Wilmington, NC - a highly specialized emergency vet that provides surgeries like this to a very large radius of clients due to the unique nature of these types of situations. Our dear friends have already put so much of their savings into this sweet boy, and we know with a boost from the amazing Carolina Beach and Wilmington pet community, that he will be able to have the surgery and come out as happy, carefree and goofy as ever and continue to be loved by his family - Brent, Michelle, their son Iain and daughter Layla, as well as their friends and neighbors that see and love on Halo daily!
