My daughter, Hallela Coleman, is a first-generation law school hopeful and a determined young woman with a vision to break barriers in the legal field. With African Americans making up only 4% of attorneys worldwide, Hallela is deeply committed to becoming part of the next generation of Black women lawyers who are changing history. Since her senior year of high school, she has faithfully attended the National Black Pre-Law Conference every year, gaining confidence, mentorship, and a clear understanding of the rigorous journey to becoming an attorney.

Throughout her undergraduate years, Hallela has worked tirelessly to maintain strong grades, stay focused, and prepare herself for the demanding path ahead. Now, she has the opportunity of a lifetime: the chance to apply to become a Lex Fellow—a prestigious international legal immersion program that will take place in Paris this May. This experience would expand her global perspective, strengthen her law school applications, and help her stand out in a competitive field. It would also be her first time studying abroad and learning law on an international stage.

However, the cost of the trip is significant. As a first-generation student, Hallela has always worked hard to create opportunities for herself, but she cannot do this alone. We are humbly asking our community, friends, and supporters to help her take this next step toward becoming the first attorney in our family. Every donation, no matter the amount, brings her one step closer to Paris and one step closer to her dream.
