Support Haley’s Cancer Journey

Haley Hatai, my cousin, was recently diagnosed with Osteosarcoma, which is a 1% cancer for adults. Because of the rarity of this cancer, Haley is being treated at a Sarcoma specialty clinic at Stanford. The news has turned their entire family's world upside down, bringing enormous emotional and physical strain.

Haley is being treated at Stanford, which is hours away from home. This has added additional financial and emotional pain as she is separated from her two young daughters—one of whom also happens to face a rare disease. Through all these rare and challenging things they would never "wish" for, God has clearly prepared each of them for this new season. The gift of suffering has enabled them to experience more of God's character at a much more intimate level.

Even as Haley faces the pain and uncertainty of her diagnosis, she continues to find hope and encouragement in her relationship with God and her invaluable community. Not because of her innate strength, but because of her ability to lean into God's sovereign plan - and to her it has been liberating. Leaning is hard and not our natural tendency, but when you lean into Him, we receive his fiercely tender love again and again.

Haley’s journey has been marked by courage and positivity, even in the face of extremely intense chemotherapy and extensive surgery to remove the tumor from her leg. She is working hard to create stability for her daughters, striving to maintain a sense of normalcy and love at home, all while navigating her own healing. The challenges are not just medical—treatments, appointments, and the reality of cancer have placed a heavy burden on Haley and her husband, Kevin. In addition to the emotional toll, there are significant financial pressures: travel to medical centers, time away from work, and the need to make adjustments at home so they can manage this season as a family. One immediate need is modifying a space in their home so Kevin can work remotely while supporting Haley during treatment. This includes converting an existing area into a dedicated office by installing a door and completing some construction work. Creating this workspace will allow Kevin to remain employed and present for Haley during treatment, which is incredibly important as they move forward. In addition to these home modifications, Haley and Kevin are already experiencing significant travel expenses for medical care, including ongoing trips back to Stanford for treatment and consultations.

Your support will help cover these urgent needs, including home modifications and travel expenses for ongoing care at Stanford. Every donation, prayer, and message of encouragement means the world to Haley and her family. Your generosity will allow them to focus less on financial stress and more on what matters most—treatment, healing, faith, and precious time together.

Thank you for standing with them during this difficult journey.
