Support Haley’s Cancer Journey

Haley Plemmons is a 24 year old, recently engaged, 3rd grade teacher in Lex/Rich 5. Since December of 2020, Haley has been battling a rare form of cancer called Myoepithelial Carcinoma. This extremely rare cancer (with only about 40 documented cases) started as what looked like a cyst on Haley’s back. Multiple tumors, 4 surgeries, and 9 months later, Haley is still going strong! For her last surgery, she was referred to Duke University, where her oncologist and surgical team have been amazing. In her last surgery, which was supposed to be a removal of what they thought were swollen lymph nodes, turned out to be the removal of a softball-sized tumor under her right arm. This came as a shock to Haley, her family, and her doctors. Thanks to her amazing team, the tumor was resected.

Haley now has to undergo radiation at Duke University every day for 6-7 weeks. Duke University is located 4 hours away from her home in Irmo. Haley will take medical leave from her job as a 3rd grade teacher (without pay) for 6-8 weeks and will relocate to the Durham/Raleigh area. During this time, Haley will face lots of medical bills that a 24 year old is not ready to handle on her own. Along with medical bills, she will still continue to pay for her car payments, rent, food, etc. As Haley’s friend, I set up this Go Fund Me to raise money to make this scary time in her life as stress-free as possible. I want Haley to worry about wedding planning - NOT medical bills! :)
