Support Hal Neff's Recovery from Flood Damage
Donation protected
Hi everyone,
I’m reaching out for help on behalf of my dad, Hal Neff. He’s lived in Western North Carolina for the past 40 years and has always taken pride in his home and land. But last week, the remnants of Tropical Storm Helene brought unprecedented flooding, with 3-4 feet of water rushing into his house. The floodwaters washed away his shed and well pump and left his property in ruins.
My dad is a kind, retired man on a limited, fixed income. Even with the support of FEMA, he simply won’t have enough to cover both the immediate repairs and the long-term recovery he needs. Right now, he’s been sleeping in his vehicle with his dogs, trying to navigate the uncertainty and devastation left behind.
Beyond his home, my dad has spent years developing and maintaining the riparian area and floodplain on his 10 acres, with beautiful trails he and his dogs walk every day. That land is now covered in debris and garbage, and restoring it will require large machinery—something he has no access to.
We’re so thankful for the incredible support we’ve already received from neighbors, Bethel Baptist Church, and the Lake Logan Volunteer Fire Department. But my dad has a long road ahead of him, and we’re asking for any additional help you can offer.
All funds raised will go directly to my dad for:
• Immediate repairs to his home and property
• Replacing the well pump and other essentials
• Long-term recovery and cleanup of his land
Any amount will make a difference. If you can’t donate, please consider sharing this page to help spread the word.
Thank you so much for your kindness and support.
