Support Hakim & his children in Afghanistan
We are raising funds for our dear friend, Hakim, whose life has been struck by great tragedy. We have known Hakim for nine years, and he is featured prominently in our feature documentary LAILA AT THE BRIDGE. Hakim is a dedicated father and husband, and tirelessly works to help people suffering from heroin addiction in Afghanistan. Hakim and his wife have four children, including a young child they adopted after his mother died giving birth to him.
Last month, Hakim lost his wife of over 20 years to Covid-19, leaving him to raise their four children on his own. Yesterday, his 27-year-old daughter died from unknown causes and a broken heart. There are no words to describe the sorrow and loss he is suffering now.
The funds will pay for rent, for funeral expenses, for food, and allow him as a newly single parent to stay home for a time to care for their young son. It can't be overemphasized how much they need help and how much good your support could do for them.
We are very familiar with sending money to Afghanistan, as we do this regularly for family and some friends. All funds collected will be sent directly to Hakim via Western Union. We will post an update after funds have been raised and Hakim has collected them. Thank you for your generosity to this beautiful family.
