Hailey's Battle Against Rare Life Altering Disease
Donation protected

Dear friends & family of Hailey,
Most of you probably don’t know, but Hailey has been severely sick since early December after a significant mouse infestation that happened on Thanksgiving. She had to stop working immediately due to the severe symptoms and has been in and out of being hospitalized, with many ER visits, procedures, trips to specialists, doctors, home health, and more.
After being diagnosed with an extremely rare bacterial infection called Yersinia Enterocolitica (individuals have a 0.001% chance of getting it) from the mice, her body endured many of the extremely severe and rare side effects, which led to being hospitalized for days. She was then discharged on home health and had an IV midline while nurses came to her, but unfortunately, she was allergic to the antibiotics.
She continued to suffer even more new paralyzing symptoms, which led to very specialized tests where she tested positive three times for the antibody NXP-2 AB. This antibody is associated with an extremely rare autoimmune disorder called Dermatomyositis, which was triggered by the infection. She is in the process of working with “Team Hailey” and figuring out next steps and treatment. She has started the process at UCLA and will see them again in a few weeks, where she will see one of their top Myositis experts in hopes to start treatment immediately based on more test results.
She has started the healing process by finding a safe place to live after a crazy urgent move over the weekend in hopes she can focus on her main job, rest. Thankfully, we have some of the best specialized Myositis centers in the country at John Hopkins and Stanford that treat the lifelong condition, which is very reassuring since one of them could potentially be next steps if needed.
More than anything, Hailey could use all of the prayers as she navigates these next steps of uncertainty since all she wants to do is get better so she can teach her precious students.
The donations will be used to help with all of her current and future medical care expenses related to this unfortunate health crisis, possible travel expenses for medical care, living expenses while she’s unable to work, and more.
We all know that Hailey’s faith has been at the center of all of her lifelong health battles, 13 surgeries, and more, and she will use that resilience to defeat this next obstacle in front of her. Thank you for sending Hailey all of the love and support, especially since we all know she has an extremely hard time accepting help.
Hailey’s goal is to recover so she can use her trials and miracles to bring hope to the world around her, be a witness to how God always has purpose even in her unimaginable circumstances, and share her testimony in hopes it will be a stepping stone that will lead people to Jesus.
