Hailey Trifiro: loyal friend, silly goose and talented makeup artist, needs our help.

For many of us in production, repetitive motion and strain can take a toll on any health problems that may already exist. Hailey was on set when she started feeling pain in her neck and shoulders. She began in the weeks to come to do what she could to strengthen them, and was mid- yoga pose when something clearly shifted in her spine. By the following day, the nerve impinged by the herniated disc in her lower neck had taken use of her right arm.

Anyone who has experienced it will tell you that nerve pain is the absolute worst pain, because it can feel like being crushed and on fire simultaneously with no relief.

I have personally watched Hailey suffer to the extent that the idea of surgery to replace the herniated disc sounded amazing. I have been in waiting rooms with her while she struggled to find a way to carry her arm that did not hurt more, and lying down is worse. For over a month, she has waded through truly dark nights of the soul in constant pain that pills barely touch, and sometimes aggravate with nausea and magnesium deficiency. Epidurals and steroid injections barely made a dent. While fusion surgery was another option, she is so young and that would really change the way she can move for the rest of her life, so disc replacement was ideal.

Miraculously, her C5 surgery was yesterday and it went very well! She is expected to make a full recovery.

Here’s where you can help: lack of production work days is starting to affect all of our insurance plans, and has many of us going out of pocket to pay the difference to keep it going. Post- surgery, physical therapy and lots of stillness and rest will mean no work for the near future.

Any help toward rent and medical bills would be truly a weight off Hailey’s shoulders, and they can’t have weight on them right now! I can’t wait to go dancing and work on set with her again, but until then we need to keep her up and running. Thank you so much for listening.
