With a heavy heart, I share the devastating news of my beloved brother, HaileMariam Alemu Wassie, who tragically passed away in a car accident in Las Vegas, Nevada, on February 6, 2025—just 18 months after arriving in the United States.

Haile came here full of hope, determination, and dreams of building a better future—not only for himself but for those he loved. His journey was one of courage and sacrifice, and his loss has left us heartbroken.

When I received the call from the County Clerk’s Office informing me of his passing, my world shattered. Now, my greatest wish is to honor his memory by bringing him home to Ethiopia, where our family awaits to lay him to rest with dignity and love.

The financial burden of repatriation, funeral arrangements, and travel expenses is overwhelming, and I cannot do this alone. I am humbly reaching out to you—our family, friends, and community—for support during this painful time.
