Support Hadi's Recovery After Tragic Accident
Donation protected
Our friends, the Tebahs, had their world shattered Friday night, Aug. 9, when a drunk driver ran a red light and struck their son, Hadi, on his motorcycle at Glass Run and Baldwin roads in Pittsburgh’s Hays neighborhood, just minutes from the family home. Hadi, 19, was critically injured, including a traumatic brain injury, despite wearing top-quality protective gear including a full face helmet and safety vest. After over a week in the trauma unit at Mercy hospital, he has not yet regained consciousness and his prognosis is uncertain. Were it not for the near proximity to the first responders from Pittsburgh Firehouse No. 20, it is unlikely Hadi would have even this fighting chance.
Hadi’s family are Syrian refugees who fled the war, resettled in Pittsburgh in 2016, and worked hard to gain citizenship. A 2024 graduate of Taylor Allderdice High School, Hadi is a bright, outgoing, athletic young man looking forward to his first year studying pre-law at the University of Pittsburgh-Greensburg this fall. He bought the motorcycle to help with commuting costs and parking, and was meticulous about safety, in part to ease his parents’ worries. Hadi is a natural athlete who loves working out, playing soccer and rooting for his favorite team, Real Madrid. He likes to listen to rap music and Bruno Mars, and had recently started a job at Target in West Mifflin. He and his older brother, Chadi, contribute financial support to the family, including Hadi's three younger brothers ages 18 months, 11, and 14. Chadi, 22, has been at his side in the hospital since the crash. His father spends long days at the hospital while his mom splits time at home with the younger boys and visiting Hadi. Financial support would be greatly appreciated to allow the family to focus on Hadi’s recovery, as well as to help with additional expenses for his care moving forward. Please consider donating to this fund for Hadi and his family. All amounts are appreciated and will help give them a big community hug! Hadi's youth, health and strength are all in his favor, but his injuries are devastating; and, at best, he and his family face a long, hard road ahead.
