Hi guys, this is Habanera (formerly Habanero but I found out she’s a girl). She is a 5 month old injured community cat.
I rescued her last week as I was helping an elderly person fix some of her outside cats that she feeds.
this kitten was out here for three weeks and they tried to get her, but they couldn’t. She was too fast.
When I arrived on scene, I knew she needed to be rescued. She was in horrible condition and was completely dirty, and her tongue was sticking out which indicates an oral issue.
Initially, what I thought would’ve been dental disease it was apparent after assessing her that her mouth could not open.
After watching her eat, she has to stick out her tongue just to slurp up any wet food and she cannot eat dry food, which explains why she is so skinny and malnourished.
I am looking to get her some medical attention, but I cannot do this without the help of the community.
Upon initial examination, the vet old me she Needs x-rays of her teeth & it is believed that she may have been hit by a car or there was blunt force in someway, causing issues with her jaw.
whether it’s dislocated or broken it will be pretty costly, but I am choosing to go to a low cost clinic so I can afford the care that she needs without spending thousands of dollars.
with rescue , we do what we can with the resources we have.
Habanera and myself would be greatly appreciative of any help.
thank you!
