Update: 10/22/2025
After 5 incredible months on Palladia, Gypsy’s tumor has sadly started growing again. Her oncologist said the cancer is no longer responding to the medication, so we’ll be doing a CT scan tomorrow to see how far it has progressed and what new treatment options might help next.
Even though this isn’t the news we hoped for, her team at Texas A&M remains optimistic and if there’s one thing we know, it’s that Gypsy is a fighter.
A look back at her journey so far:
• March 29, 2025: Gypsy was diagnosed with a high-grade subcutaneous mast cell tumor.
• April 10, 2025: She had surgery, and the tumor was successfully removed with clean margins.
• Late April: Within just a few weeks, the tumor returned aggressively.
• May: After an emergency oncology visit, Gypsy began medication to shrink the tumor so she could start radiation.
• June: She completed four rounds of radiation therapy and afterward celebrated at the beach, her favorite place.
• June–October: She started Palladia, a targeted oral chemotherapy, and for 5 months it helped slow the cancer while she enjoyed her walks, treats, and Senior Dog Sundays with her online friends.
Throughout this journey, I’ve tracked her reactions and side effects daily… from appetite and hydration to energy levels, to make sure she stayed safe on treatment. Her doctors have been incredible, and together we’ve been able to give her more good days full of tail wags and sass than we could have imagined back in March.
Tomorrow’s scan will guide our next steps possibly more radiation, injectable treatment, or another surgery. Whatever the next phase looks like, we’re ready to keep fighting for every happy day she wants to be here.
To date, Gypsy’s care has cost close to $18,000… not including tomorrow’s CT scan and potential new treatment plan. I have spent every dollar I could and put other treatments on CareCredit. If you’d like to help Gypsy with her care, donations go directly toward her oncology appointments, medications, scans, and supplements.
Your support through kind messages, shares, and donations truly makes a difference in her fight.
From both of us, thank you for believing in her story and helping me give her the best care possible.
With love,
Jessica & Gypsy “sasscellwarrior” ✨
April 2025:
I'm starting this GoFundMe because so many of y'all have asked how you can help with Gypsy's upcoming surgery. It is so hard for me to ask for help, but I feel so blessed that Gypsy has aunts, uncles, and fans that want to see her healthy!
If you saw my social media post, you know that Gypsy was diagnosed with a mast cell tumor on her left lateral thorax last week. We have surgery scheduled to remove it on April 30th. From there, we will know what stage it is and if any further treatment is needed. Best case scenario, the tumor is removed and nothing else is needed except extra love and cuddles!! I'll worry about next steps if we have to cross that bridge. For now, I'm staying positive!
Estimated Costs:
Lab work visit in 2 weeks (pre-surgery): $901.47, but I've already paid part, so $439.27 is the balance left.
Mass Removal: $1776-$2427
Please consider donating. Every dollar counts and helps this nervous mama focus on getting her healthy instead of this looming financial aspect of it.
