The George Washington High School JROTC program, led by Sergeant First Class Joseph Ramos, is dedicated to developing leadership, discipline, and teamwork in our cadets both in the classroom and through hands-on experiences. Special teams such as Drill Team, Color Guard, and the Raider Team play a vital role in this mission by providing students with opportunities to build confidence, represent our school and community, and compete at high levels. However, these programs require funding for uniforms, equipment, competition fees, and travel expenses—costs that go beyond our standard budget.
As this year comes to an end, our graduating seniors who have been in the program are preparing to embark on illustrious journeys. Their involvement in JROTC has been a deciding factor in their future endeavors. We have one cadet going to West Point Military Academy to become an Army Officer majoring in Nuclear Engineering, another joining the Army in psychological operations, and another accepted to the University of Utah to study medicine. Ninety percent of all cadets in the program are honor students with a GPA of 3.5 or higher. The JROTC motto, “To Motivate Young People to be Better Citizens,” guides our core mission to develop leadership, citizenship, and personal responsibility in high school students, fostering positive habits and character. Our student-led program thrives on equity and fairness, ensuring endless opportunities for all cadets.
Funds raised will go toward new team uniforms for Archery, Raider, Rifle Marksmanship, Color Guard, and our Honor Platoon. As we start the 2026-2027 school year, I want to involve our cadets in as many competitions as possible, including travel, to prepare them for our end-of-year national championship, where our teams will demonstrate their skills and compete with JROTC teams from around the nation. Along with this GoFundMe, I will be actively seeking opportunities for cadets to participate in community service and volunteer events to give back to our community and be productive members of society. Your support will help ensure that every cadet, regardless of financial background, has the opportunity to participate, grow, and succeed. Thank you for investing in the development of our future leaders and making a lasting impact on our students.
