Hi, we wanted to reach out on behalf of our chosen sister/friend/cousin/Auntie/Woman extraordinaire Gwen Gibson, who is scheduled for Transhiatal Esophageectomy on 7/11/25, at Shands Hospital in Gainesville Fla. She has end stage Achalasia,and requires this to live. The surgeon describes it as extensive and brutal. 14 days in ICU minimum. No clue how long she will be in the hospital,they are planning on a month's stay. Maybe longer if necessary. During this time, Danah will be closing the shop to care for Gwen and their Mom,for 6-12 weeks. This means they will have NO INCOME. Gwen will recover at Danah's house after being released, and Danah needs a sitter for Mom,24/7. Family and Friends are taking turns in Gainesville, but could use some help going from hospital to care for Gwen and someone to sit with Jeannie. She cannot go to the hospital everyday.Gwen has not been able to work since 02/10/24 due to issues (still unknown)with her legs/mobility.She is still in denial by Social Security disability.She just wants to be semi-normal and get back to work and live her life! Having to ask for financial help is embarrassing for both of them, but this is just not a normal circumstance. Just because she appears to be fine, she is not. Everyday is a struggle and painful for her.
