In April, our family received the devastating news that my brother, Guy, has been diagnosed with Stage IV pancreatic cancer. Since then, life has felt surreal. Our conversations now include words we never imagined using, such as oncologist, chemotherapy, CT and PET scans, paracentesis, and prognosis. Everything changed instantly, and the road ahead is filled with uncertainty, especially for Guy, his wife Roxanne, and their five children.
Pancreatic cancer is one of the most aggressive forms of cancer. Because it rarely shows symptoms in its early stages, it often goes undetected until it has already spread to other parts of the body, just as it has in Guy’s case. His cancer has metastasized from the pancreas to the liver, throughout the peritoneum, and into a few lymph nodes, making surgery no longer an option. The recommended treatment has been and will continue to be intensive chemotherapy, which is both physically and emotionally draining. Guy has had a rough start to his journey, finding himself in and out of the hospital and under specialized care from many doctors.
While Guy and his family navigate the complexities of his care, the financial burden of the past four months, which have included extended time in the hospital, has quickly become overwhelming. The cost of treatment, medications, and specialized care have created a financial burden and stress for my brother Guy and his family.
Many of you who know and care for Guy and his family have asked how you can help. This GoFundMe is one of the most immediate and impactful ways. Your donation, of any amount, will go directly toward continued rising medical expenses, including treatments, medications, doctors’ visits, procedures that are not covered or denied by the insurance company, specialized care, supportive care, other resources that help manage his pain and symptoms, improve his quality of life, and other related costs. Even with insurance, the out-of-pocket expenses are significant and growing daily.
Our family is doing everything we can to support Guy and his family during this incredibly difficult time, but we are turning to you, our friends, family and community, for additional support.
Guy is the primary provider for his family, but as he focuses on treatment, his ability to work becomes more difficult. The course of treatment, medical bills, and longevity of care are becoming a heavy financial burden on Guy and his family during an already overwhelming time. Your generosity will also help cover essential living expenses, easing some of the burden of everyday living, so Guy and Roxanne can focus fully on his care and their family's well-being.
Whether you’re able to give $1 or share this campaign with others in your network, every act of support matters. This journey is a marathon, not a sprint. Your donation, no matter the size, will provide a lifeline for Guy and our family, allowing us to focus on what matters most: his fight to live. Even if you can’t donate, your prayers, positive thoughts, and love mean the world to us. Your kindness brings strength, hope, and comfort, and helps give Guy a fighting chance.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for fighting with us,
The Cesario Family
