*UPDATE! - from Susanne today (10/16)
UPDATE 0700 hours - my daughter suggested I leave a little bit of the food in his kennel maybe he’d nibble on it today. So as I was getting ready to leave, I put some in there and then remembered he couldn’t eat it anyway because of that damn cone. As I pulled it out, he reacted to it and tried to eat it. It was still tough with the cone, so I hand fed it and he ate every damn drop. I didn’t really wanna leave for work right after, but some things can’t be controlled. However, right at this moment, I am one happy doggy mommy. That is his first bite of food since Tuesday morning!!!!
Update 0500 hours - Well Gunter and I made it through the night. He was in his kennel from the time he got home from the surgery except for the couple times he went out to pee. We got up this morning at 0400 to go out and again a little after 0500. I was able to give him the paste that he has to have as well as the 7 pills. Thank goodness he will still consume peanut butter. He has drunk a little water but still does not want to eat. We did take a brief walk. I wanted him to have a little of his regular routine and also see if he would go poop. He tried. He hasn't thrown up since he has been home so I guess the food eating will come when the meds regulate. So, baby steps. I have set the camera in his current bedroom so I can watch him today from work. I don't want to but I have to go into the office today.
I have removed the cone of shame for a bit since he will be stuck with it all day in the kennel. If you follow him/us at all, you know he loves to lay his big butt underneath my desk when I am working on the computer. He did just that so at least it feels kinda normal here in the Whitney household for the moment.
Thank you again to everyone for their care and concern for my boy!!!! ❤️

Günter’s surgery was a successful but a lot more than expected. It was determined that the object had been there a lot longer and part of his intestines had had to be removed. The next 4 days are critical and he has been sent home with medication that Susanne will have to administer around the clock plus all the follow ups that will be needed. Her total costs at this point are over $3000 and could still be more. Please help and share if you can!
I’m raising funds for my dear friend Susanne and her dog, Günter. Susanne came home Tuesday to find Günter had gotten sick. She tried to care for him at home, but when he kept declining, she knew she needed to take him to the local emergency vet. They did x-rays and sent him home, but he has only gotten worse. Now the vet believes he has a blockage, and Susanne is facing surgery for Günter today.
This has become a sudden financial strain. Susanne has already spent over $2,000 trying to get Günter the care he needs, and the surgery is expected to cost at least another $2,500. On top of that, there may be additional costs for medications and follow-up care.
I was there with Susanne when she found Günter and they both instantly bonded as a sweet little puppy. Watching him grow into the beautiful, sweet, loving boy he is now has been special. Günter has brought so much joy to Susanne and to so many others, and Susanne loves him deeply.
Susanne is someone who gives back to the community, and now it is our turn to give back to Susanne.
Any support for this fundraiser will help cover the emergency vet costs Susanne has already incurred, along with surgery, medications, and follow-up treatment. If you’re able to give or share, it would mean so much and would help Susanne give Günter the care he deserves.
