Dear friends, family and supporters,
We are reaching out with heavy hearts to share the story of my beautiful and incredible mother-in-law, Guillermina. She beat breast cancer earlier this year, but was also diagnosed with liver cancer that has sadly become very aggressive. One month ago, she was complaining of feeling short of breath so we took her to the emergency room where she was diagnosed with a severe staph infection in her bloodstream. Unfortunately, there is no cure for this infection because of her current health conditions. Due to her liver cancer, she is also battling pneumonia. Despite doctors taking fluid out of her lungs, her shortness of breath has only gotten worse and she is now on oxygen at all times. After a long and painful journey of medical treatments and hospital stays, she was discharged today (11/15) to be put on hospice care at home, surrounded by family and loved ones.
Guillermina has always been an independent, strong and loving woman. She is a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend. To know her is to love her. She has always been able to do everything on her own and is a fighter. Sadly, her body is no longer able to fight these illnesses. The staph infection has spread and even made its way to her heart, complicating her already fragile condition. Her liver cancer is progressing quickly, and despite the best efforts of her doctors, there are no curative treatments left.
At this point, our family is focused on providing her with comfort and love as she enters her final days. We are grateful that she is at home, surrounded by the people who love her.
How You Can Help:
We are asking for your support in raising funds to help with the financial burden that we are facing during this incredibly difficult time. Every donation, no matter how small, will go directly toward ensuring that Guillermina can receive the comfort and dignity she deserves in her final days as well as helping with funeral costs.
Our family is incredibly grateful for any support you can offer—whether that’s through a donation, sharing this with others, or simply sending positive thoughts and prayers. We cannot express enough how much it means to us during this challenging time.
Thank you for being a part of Guillermina’s journey.
Thank you,
Kadi Hileman on behalf of Guillermina’s family—her sons Oscar, Guillermo and Ernesto. Her husband Robert and her grandchildren Elizabeth, Ellina, Jordan, Kylie, Audrina, Harley and Dawsyn.
