The reason we are fundraising today is because we had a phone call on Friday from a social worker in Houston about a veteran with 4 dogs: Momma, Daddy and 2 puppies about 8-9 months old. The veteran was rushed to the hospital by ambulance and the dogs were left in his home for several days with no one taking care of them. The veteran broke down sobbing while talking to me on the phone. These dogs are all he has, he told me. I PROMISED the veteran that I would find foster homes to take care of his dogs for him while he was in the hospital. Here is the problem.... we only have a few foster homes in the Houston area. I always have a hard time finding fosters there. I usually have to send them up to the Dallas-Ft. Worth area.

Because the dogs were in an emergency situation, we contracted with a boarding facility to pick the dogs up from the veteran's home and take them back to the facility. Just to do this until Monday will cost GAfSP over $600!! We barely have much more than that in the bank!
