Support G's Road to Recovery

We are reaching out to you on behalf of our dear friend, G, who has always been the first to lend a helping hand to others. If you know G, you know her independence and vibrant spirit, even in the face of adversity. G always has a smile to share and a kind word to make anyone feel welcome. Recently, she endured an unforeseen, severe medical emergency that has left her temporarily unable to work and in need of our support.

Injury Details:

In March, G experienced a freak accident involving a shopping cart, which led to a severe infection in her foot exacerbated by underlying health conditions. Despite receiving medical attention, the infection progressed and resulted in the partial amputation of her foot. This loss included all toes on her right foot, up through the metatarsals, significantly affecting her balance and mobility. The injury requires an extensive and very painful recovery period, many adjustments to her daily activities, and changes to employment in the future. This has been a significant setback for her, not just physically but also financially.

Recovery Process:

G continues to be in a critical phase of her recovery, dealing for many months with an open wound that requires daily, painful dressing changes to guard against further infection and to prepare for upcoming skin graft procedures. This rigorous care regimen restricts her mobility extensively and demands that she keep her foot elevated, complicating her day-to-day life. These challenges are both physical and emotional, as they temporarily strip away her independence and ability to work.

Adding complication, G’s apartment management company is forcing their residents to move by the end of July, after giving only a few week’s notice. As you may imagine, it will be very difficult —and potentially hazardous to the health of her recovering foot that needs constant elevation— to be packing and moving.

G has another procedure coming up in September. This skin graft procedure will help to close the open wound on her foot, but will bring with it another round of painful recovery and limited mobility, and all that goes with that.

Use of Funds:

The funds raised will be used to cover G’s immediate financial needs while she is unable to work. This includes rent, utility bills, food, and medical expenses such as doctor visits, medication, and necessary medical supplies for dressing changes. They will also help her get through the move, and all the costs that brings with it. Additionally, a portion will help with transportation costs, as G requires frequent visits to healthcare providers. Your support ensures that G can focus on her recovery, lessening the added stress of financial burdens.
