Support Grounded Futures to keep amplifying voices

Donation protected
Hello friends and community!

We are reaching out to you all because we could use some concrete solidarity to help keep Grounded Futures going. We know that the collective attention, solidarity, and mutual aid is being pulled in many directions amongst a barrage of crises — and so, we are deeply grateful for any support you’re able to offer at this time.

Who we are:

Grounded Futures is a multidisciplinary art production and mentorship collaborative.

We are a collective of women and gender nonconforming artists who create and support the making of a variety of multidisciplinary arts and podcasts. We celebrate and amplify multigenerational voices from below to talk about everyday collective thriving amid the ongoing disasters we are collectively facing — today and into the future. Together we aim to create artworks that are relevant to all of our lives, rooting in stories of thriving, belonging, resistance, and beyond!

Why now? Over the span of 2023 we were unable to leverage art grants and other institutional funding, and so our funds have dwindled. We are grateful for the support we have received over the past few years from arts funders, both regionally and federally. However, due to the recent and ongoing nature of arts funding, it is precarious to sustain long term funding this way.

Our past funding supported 6 projects and shows, and 11 core artists, and over 50 guests, storytellers, and composers.

As many artists and media makers know, relying on grants alone is a precarious route to take, and so we are trying to reimagine how we can remain in our ethos of keeping our work free of charge while paying folks fairly for their work. Part of the answer at this time is to reach out to you all!

As a collective we don’t have independent wealth and are made up of identities such as single mothers, working class, disabled bodies, and queer youth. Any funding we receive supports us to actually survive capitalism.

This kind of community generated support helps our collective feel supported, which will spark us in new ways, ultimately supporting us to feel more connected. This generous support is a bridge to keep Grounded Futures afloat while we work for further funding to create more works with and for our community.

At the baseline, your generous support will help us to keep the past and current shows and projects available and accessible for people to listen to and share. We also want to mention that we share many of the platform resources (see below) with folks beyond our arts collective because we believe in, and try to live in, mutual aid and solidarity where we can.

For now, we are looking for support from our community to help us cover the platform fees, software licences, and other operating fees for the coming years. If we reach this goal of $5000 — our baseline fees will be covered for the next 2 years!
