Support Grim’s Recovery
Donation protected
This is Grim, my little buddy. He is currently hospitalized due to a urinary blockage and UTI. His potassium levels are very high, which is causing cardiac arrhythmia. Though he has been stabilized and is doing okay while he is staying overnight with the vet, the $2500 goal here is the cost of everything he’s had done thus far. He will need a couple more days of fluids, which is going to bring our total bill to a higher (undetermined) amount, but truly anything you can donate will be of help to him. He is a young cat, 3 years old, very shy but sweet. If you’re able to donate, please, please do. If you’re not able to help monetarily, then sharing this will also help!
Thank you so much in advance to all who are able and willing to help cover Grim’s veterinary costs.
***UPDATE 3/10/25 2:50pm***
We got a call from the vet saying Grim is really not doing well at all, his potassium levels are lowering but his kidney levels are totally off the charts and he is most likely in kidney failure and we are not sure that he will pull through. He is a strong young cat so I will not give up on him, but our options are to give him two more days in the hospital to monitor and get his levels down- or euthanize him. The second option is not at option for me right now - another two days at $968.53 per day is bringing our total to $4437.06 and I will be updating the total goal here to reflect that. The vet is going to try to see if they can set up something at their front desk to anyone who would prefer to donate directly to the hospital - I will update with that information as soon as I know it… thank you again for donating or sharing.

Got another call with bad news, right now Grim’s liver is starting to fail , he has very low protein levels and there’s is fluid under his skin… the vets are concerned that this may be the early stages of sepsis and right now it is just a waiting game for us to see what happens. We are going to give him the opportunity to fight this and see how he is after the two days of 24hr care and just hope he pulls through. I am devastated to hear this but I cannot give up on him so early, this is only day two of his being cared for and it’s not looking great for him.
// SEPSIS- A life-threatening complication of an infection.
Sepsis occurs when chemicals released in the bloodstream to fight an infection trigger inflammation throughout the body. This can cause a cascade of changes that damage multiple organ systems, leading them to fail, sometimes even resulting in death.
Symptoms include fever, difficulty breathing, low blood pressure, fast heart rate, and mental confusion.
Treatment includes antibiotics and intravenous fluids.
*** UPDATE 3/11/25 1:15pm ***
We received a call from the vet this morning letting us know that Grim is improving!! His potassium level is back to a normal reading and his proteins are improving. There is no longer a concern for sepsis! His bladder is still very dirty and filled with small sandlike crystals and he will need at least another 24-48hrs with the catheter and IV fluids flushing his system. The first 24hr care period they cut the cost from $986.53 to $900 so we could cover the full amount using a CareCredit card. The additional 48 hour period was estimated at $2673.78 - which I opened another CareCredit card to cover the bulk of it and put the rest on another credit card. If Grim needs additional time to get his body functioning at a safe level to come home then we will plan to keep him there as he needs. Our total spent as of right now is $5144.02 - if we do an additional day it’ll run up another $1200 but we will cross that bridge if/when we get to it!
I just wanted to thank everyone who has already donated to us for Grim. It means so much more than we could have imagined and initially we didn’t even think we wanted to make a fundraiser because we didn’t think anyone would care. We’ve been greatly proven wrong and we are truly touched with the amount of support we’ve gotten in such a short time - I never expected to have the full costs covered and I still don’t expect that but thank you to those who have given what they can, $5-$500 it’s all been amazing and a great relief to be able to pay this off for Grim with your help.
We were able to go visit him today and while he is sedated and on pain meds, he was clearly excited to see us and we were very happy to see him. I am attaching the three bills here (which are under my partner’s name, John-Paul) and I will do a second update to share some photos of him from the visit!
