On October 4th, 2023, our beloved mother, sister, daughter, and friend, Desiree Sutherland, left us all too soon at the age of 53. Since 2016 Dez has battled a rare and aggressive form of cancer, Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma, though this cancer left her unable to work and care for herself since she came to the United States in 2020, she’s battled with unwavering strength and grace. Her passing has left a void that can never be filled.

Dez was not only the heart of our family, but she was also a beacon of love and joy to everyone fortunate enough to know her. Her smile could light up a room, and her kindness was boundless. She dedicated her entire life to her family, and her loss has left us with an indescribable sense of sorrow.

During her courageous battle, Dez was surrounded by the love and care of her two devoted daughters and her loving son-in-law. Shaneen and Marco made the selfless decision to put their careers on hold to be her primary caregivers, offering her comfort and support around the clock. They showed incredible strength, but it came at a considerable financial cost. Sherese took on the financial burdens to ensure Dez received the best possible care. Now, as they face a future without their mother, they find themselves in a challenging and uncertain situation.

Dez had no life insurance, which has left the family with unexpected financial responsibilities. She had one final request: to be laid to rest in her beloved Belize, the place that held a special spot in her heart. Fulfilling this wish is an essential part of honoring her memory.

Adding to the complexities of the situation, In 2019, their beloved grandmother suffered a life-altering stroke, leaving her unable to work or support herself. Now, two dedicated granddaughters have stepped up to provide the care and support that their grandmother needs, but they can't do it alone.
