– A Difficult Update
WE’RE NOT GIVING UP!!
Hi everyone,
I am trying to raise money to assist with Greg’s travel and medical costs to continue to receive cancer treatment at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston Texas.
I wanted to share an important update and thank you, once again, for the continued love, prayers, and support you have shown Greg and our family.
Greg began his current clinical trial in January 2025 and had been on it for almost a year. In the beginning, the results were encouraging—the cancer shrank significantly and then remained stable for quite some time. Unfortunately, at Greg’s appointment on January 28, we were shocked by some very difficult and unexpected news.
The doctors determined that the trial drug appears to have stopped working. The lesions in Greg’s lungs have begun growing again, and new ones have developed. We were told there are now more than 25 lung lesions, along with involvement in four lymph nodes.
As devastating as that news was, it became even more concerning when a CT scan revealed three spots on Greg’s brain, prompting an immediate MRI. Greg was admitted through the emergency room and was able to have the MRI later that night. We were heartbroken to learn that he now has 15 brain lesions that developed since his last scan in November 2025.
The medical team has recommended targeted radiation to the brain to treat these lesions. Because of this, Greg must discontinue his current clinical trial and begin radiation first. After radiation, there will be a required waiting period of approximately 2–4 weeks before he can begin a new clinical trial. During this time, we are praying the cancer does not progress further.
Due to these treatments and their side effects, Greg will need to stop working for a while. He is facing new treatment schedules, additional travel back and forth to Houston, and the physical and emotional toll that comes with all of this. The financial strain from medical costs, travel, and lost income has become more than we can manage on our own.
We are so grateful for all the help we have received in the past and never imagined having to ask again—but we truly cannot do this alone. If you are not able to help financially, we completely understand and simply ask that you keep Greg in your thoughts and prayers. Every form of support means more than you know.
Greg is a wonderful husband, an incredible father, and a loyal friend. He has always been the person who would do anything to help others, and right now, he is the one who needs help.
Thank you for standing with us, for continuing to pray, and for supporting Greg in any way you can. Your kindness means more than words can express, and we will continue to share updates as we move forward.
Funds will be used to cover cost of travel for Greg to go to and from Houston for his medical treatments.
With love & gratitude,
The Thum Family
