The "Fish Whisperer" Greg Zerr needs our help! Anyone who knows Greg knows he has a heart of gold and is always willing to help others. Whether it be taking you out fishing, helping with a remodel, or offering free rides on New Year's to make sure we all got home safe, he has always been Johnny on the spot!
As many of you know, Greg's health has been suffering the last few years. In and out of the hospital, oxygen levels dropping below 80, unable to breathe, and unable to work due to his declining health. Doctors have yet to figure out exactly what is wrong. He was referred to UW but cannot get in until the end of May. His situation recently got much worse! A week ago, he found out the home he has been living in for the last 16 years has a massive black mold issue with toxic levels off the charts. This long-term exposure to black mold could very well answer some of his declining health issues.
Greg's pride has gotten in the way of asking others for help, so my husband and I are stepping up! We are asking all of you to join us in helping out a great guy who has spent many years helping others! His home is unlivable, and a professional crew came in to sort through all of his belongings and discard anything affected by the mold. 90% of what was in the home was removed and destroyed. He ended up with 2 garbage bags of clothes. With nowhere to go, and Greg not wanting to ask others for help, he was sleeping in his truck. After seeing his dire situation, we could not just sit by and let our friend suffer! He is currently staying with us while we help him navigate the next steps to figure out his health issues, get proper treatment, find a new place for him to call home, and get back on his feet!
We are asking all of you to help pay it forward back to Greg! Any little bit helps and is greatly appreciated!
Photos added of what was growing in Greg’s house! A giant mushroom looking thing that was mold - many of them
in different colors! and the black mold in the walls. Imagine living there for YEARS and not knowing!
Update: First, thank you to all who have donated! ❤️ Greg is very humbled and would love to pay it forward once he is able to regain his health. He did have a few tests to check for mold in his blood. We hope to have the results by the end of next week. He will be seeing the Dr again this week and is hoping to have more testing to check the extent of the damage to his lungs. I will post an update as soon as we get the results. Thank you again! Many blessing back to all of you! ❤️
