Support Greg Wilcox through his journey w/ cancer
Donation protected
In December 2019, we learned that our dear brother / brother-in-law / friend, Greg Wilcox, was diagnosed with an aggressive form of brain cancer. Greg had an MRI after experiencing some vision loss. The MRI revealed a large mass on the left side of his brain. After a biopsy on December 2nd, 2019, it was determined to be Stage IV Glioblastoma.
Greg was told that the tumor was inoperable, however; was urged to get a second opinion. He and Deanna, his wife of 15 years, traveled to Massachusetts to get two second opinions. After having reviewed his scans for 5 hours, a neurosurgeon at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, was willing to operate. Four days later, on December 23, 2019, Greg underwent a 9+ hour surgery to remove a large part of the tumor.
The surgery resulted in more and longer-lasting side effects than originally anticipated by his surgeon and his family. His vision was also further impaired and continues to be; he is unable to drive. Greg was involved in physical, occupational, and speech and language therapies at an in-patient rehab facility for a little over a week (12/30-1/8) and continues to receive these services through out-patient care. Each day he makes great progress, and we are so proud of his hard work.

First and foremost, Greg is an amazing, loyal, and loving father, husband, son, brother, uncle, and friend. He has been a rock for his family, supporting his wife in her health journey with Lyme Disease and CIRS, and being a fully devoted father to his sons, Zebediah (13) and Oliver (10), selflessly putting his family first before himself. He is an active member of his community and their church, St. Ann’s Parish. He enjoys sports, fitness, building things, and loves anything chocolate!! He is humble, kind, and as genuine as they come.

Greg is a Resident Civil Engineer for the State of Vermont Agency of Transportation, employed in the field for the past 22 years; devoting much of his time to help build and maintain the infrastructure in Vermont. He serves as Logistics Chief of the Northwestern Vermont Incident Command Center, helping his community during natural disasters (most recently the flooding that occurred in October). He was working on the North Hero Vermont Drawbridge project, the largest bridge project in the State, prior to his diagnosis. He takes great pride in his work.
Greg’s faith has been undeniably fierce in the face of this diagnosis and the long road to recovery that he has before him. His resilience is truly amazing, and he and Deanna continue to inspire the rest of us. So, in addition to our devotion to prayer, we also humbly ask for financial support so that they don’t have to worry about that hardship on top of everything else.
They are busy travelling to and from Dana Farber in Boston for appointments for a clinical trial, continuing with out-patient therapy, and undergoing 30 radiation and 42 chemotherapy treatments in the next six weeks, as well as seeking care through a naturopathic doctor specializing in oncology. Greg deserves the best of treatments, but unfortunately, these treatments come with great cost. Chemo alone, for a three-week period, is over $400 out of pocket.
Greg will be out of work for an extended period of time and, unfortunately, does not have short- or long-term disability benefits. Although Greg has accrued some sick time from his job, it is not nearly enough to support his medical expenses and his family. Deanna is self-employed, but also devoted to staying by Greg’s side through all appointments and treatments as well as taking care of their two boys simultaneously.
Please consider supporting this family with prayers, encouragement, and financial donations as they work toward Greg’s complete healing. He’s come a long way, but still has a long way to go. We are standing steadfast in faith, hope and trust that God will fully heal Greg. Until then, let’s be the hands and feet of Jesus to this precious family.
Loving God, we pray that you will comfort Greg in his suffering, lend skill to the hands of his healers, and bless the means used for his cure. Give him such confidence in the power of Your grace, that even when he is afraid, he may put his whole trust in You; through our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.
Our family thanks you in advance for all the support and keeping us in your prayers. We are deeply grateful for any contribution – however big or small – you might find in your heart to give. Thank you for your help in sharing with as many people as you can by sharing this link on your social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) and encouraging them to forward this to their friends and loved ones as well. We ask you to keep Greg and his family in your prayers. Thank you so much for your generous and loving support for our family!
