Greg Smith is the kind of person who brings laughter and light wherever he goes. Married to my best friend Amanda, Greg is known for his sense of humor, his love for coaching kids, and his uncanny Wilford Brimley impersonations that make Amanda cringe and me smile. He’s a devoted husband, a caring friend, and someone who never hesitates to help others. Even now, as he faces thyroid cancer, Greg’s positive spirit continues to shine through.

This diagnosis has brought a lot of challenges for Greg and his family. He’s had to take significant time off work, which has created financial stress and uncertainty about the future. The mounting medical bills, copays, deductibles, and out-of-network expenses are overwhelming, and the loss of income has made it even harder to keep up with everyday bills at home. During Amanda’s cancer journey, their savings account was depleted, making this new diagnosis even more difficult to face. Despite all of this, Greg remains focused on providing for his family and supporting Amanda, just as he did when she faced her own battles with cancer.

Greg and Amanda are a true power couple, united by love and perseverance. Their journey is a testament to the strength that comes from trusting in God, even when life feels like a battleground. Through this fundraiser, we want Greg to know that he is deeply loved by his family, friends, and the Lord. Our hope is to ease the financial burden so Greg can focus on healing and continue to inspire others with his courage and unwavering faith. Every contribution will help Greg and Amanda face this trial with hope and strength, knowing they are not alone. I want him to have courage in this trial. Many Christians have the mistaken idea that once they make a commitment to Jesus Christ, life will be smooth sailing from that day forward. This is certainly not the case. Some are surprised to find that the Christian life is not a playground but rather a battleground. While it is true that walking with Christ will help us avoid many of the problems we used to face, we are still going to experience what the Bible calls "trials" Trials may come in the form of a crisis, a sudden illness, persecution for your faith, or some other drastic, unwelcome change in your life. You may go through a difficult time when you don't feel God's presence or your prayers seem to go no higher than the ceiling. This may cause you to wonder if you have angered God or if he has left you. But God does not allow us to experience trials because he wants to see us suffer. Rather, he allows these difficulties into our lives to help us grow spiritually—to learn to live by faith, not by feelings. Trials are like God's gym where we grow stronger, but as they say, "No pain, no gain." God promises to be with us during these times of trouble. Mark 4:35-41, Luke 6:47-49, John 14:1-7, 2 Corinthians 1:3-7, 2 Corinthians 4:7-18. The Lord will provide.
